Selling Your Used Car As A Private Party

Selling Your Used Car As A Private Party

Tired of your old car and want to move on to a new one? Or maybe you just don’t have any use for the car anymore while it’s still racking up expenses? Why not sell it to someone who wants it and will take good care of it. You’ll get some profit in return and you won’t have to be burdened with a car that will be more useful to others.

The first step to selling your used car would be to prepare the car for the sale. Make sure that it is in a useful condition. What use is there for the buyer if the car doesn’t even work? You’ll never get buyers if the car is in such a deteriorated state. So it’s best to make your car presentable and competent. Take good pictures of your car and make a list of its features that you think would appeal to potential buyers.

The next course to take would be to get the word out that you’re selling your car. You can do it by making an ad in the newspapers or magazines or you can use the Web and advertise through an Internet auction. If you’re not sure on how to make an ad browse through automotive magazines and issues and take a look at how the other sellers do it. Make sure that in your ad you write down the car’s features and condition as honestly as you can.

If your car is one of the new models in the automobile industry you might be able to attract a lot of buyers. It would be best to make some improvements to your car at least on its appearance. Make it obvious that it is a new model. If you’re selling an old car though it might take more work to improve the car’s appearance. You will also have to make sure the car still functions as good as new. There may be instances where you will have to change some things to the car to make it more attractive to buyers exterior paint finish carpeting and upholstery new tires etc.. Be careful with the electrical and electronic parts of the car when cleaning it. Check the engine too and make sure you have it fully charged and the oil and filter have been changed.

When the first buyer contacts you about your car meet up with him or her in safe and public places. You don’t have to show where you live and the buyer would feel safer when in doing a sale in public. Be prepared to host more than one person. Your buyer might bring in family or friends or even a mechanic or expert to take a look at your car. Make sure to give them time to talk among themselves to discuss the pros and cons of buying your car. It will ease up the awkwardness and give them room of comfort.

There’s also the paperwork to take car of when selling your car. Consult with the nearest state motor vehicle office and ask about the legal requirements needed to make a vehicle sale in your area. You’ll have to take care of your car’s title registration license plates and insurance policy. Inquire about the steps to be undergone and the expenses and payments. You will need to notify your insurance agent about the sale and have your insurance canceled when you’ve made the deal.

Remember that selling a car may be tiresome and that there will be some haggling and frustrations at times. Have some patience and try not to pressure your buyer too much. Negotiations to make the sale successful can be a little frustrating but just put in some patience and consider your buyer’s position in wanting to make a reasonable purchase.

When doing the financial transaction for the sale insist on a cash payment or a certified or cashier’s check. A wire transfer of funds into your account is also all right. Just make sure that the money already arrived in your account before signing over the title to your buyer. Never accept a personal check though. It is not advisable especially with such an amount. Once you’ve settled these things with your buyer you can hand over the signed title and the key to the car and move on with your own purchase of a new car.

Hondas Sci-Fi 4wd In The Acura Rllegend Fast Cars -

Hondas Sci-Fi 4wd In The Acura Rllegend Fast Cars – Now

Honda has come up with the most amazing 4wheeldrive system not for offroaders but to improve the handling and stability of fast cars. It is being used first in the new Acura RL Honda Legend.

Why is it so advanced? This SHAWD system has the potential to increase cornering power and cornering safety by leaps and bounds. It will be ideal for supercars as well as luxury coupes.More information about supercars at http://www.fastautos.com/supercars.html

First it allows the amount of power sent to the wheels to be varied from 30 front and 70 rear to 70 front and 30 rear. True some other systems get near that but this allows the system to adjust itself to completely different conditions. On top of that it can alter the torque from zero to 100 to the left or right rear wheel.

In other words all the power can one to the right wheel one minute and if necessary can be reversed so that all the power goes to the other wheel in an instant. This might be needed in slushy or snowy conditions where there was a patch of bare road for a bit on one side offering good grip but a bit later on a bare patch on the other side.

In addition to those features the outer rear wheel can be speeded up so that it goes faster than the inside wheel! All done continuously depending on conditions. A few years ago this would have considered desirable but science fiction.

More power to the rear wheel for acceleration

Confused? Well let’s start with the fronttorear power. When you accelerate the weight of the car is thrown on to the back wheels by the force of acceleration so you want more power to go to the back wheels 8211; if it all goes to the front you get wheelspin. When cornering you generally want as much or more power to the rear wheels. SHAWD does that.

On the other hand when you are cruising along you want more power to the front wheels as this increases stability. SHAWD also does that.

More power to outer rear wheel for better cornering

The sidetoside variation in power is used to improve cornering power and stability. For example when you accelerate through a corner extra power through the outer rear wheel counteracts understeer letting the car corner on rails. In fact stability control systems used on many cars now do this by reducing the amount of torque sent to the inner wheel 8211; this means that you actually corner slower than you could do. SHAWD lets you corner faster.

On the overrun you don’t need that and less power is sent through the outer wheel for optimum stability. But that isn’t enough because when a car corners the outer wheels have to travel further than the inner ones 8211; by 510 on very tight corners so the outer wheel normally goes slower.

Honda overcomes this with some gears in the back axle gear set which actually drive the outer wheel faster when cornering! This improves maneuverability and cornering at low speeds.

Electromagnetic multiplate clutches

All this is accomplished by multiplate clutches operated electromagnetically 8211; a world first 8211; and the gear/clutch set used for acceleration. In fact these gears also serve as the rear differential.

An advantage of the electromagnetic clutches is that the electronic controller does not need to control a hydraulic actuation system as used normally but an electric actuator 8211; this reduces cost and weight.

Is this the best thing since sliced bread? For the person who wants to have stability and control and doesn’t want to know what is happening to the car yes. Such a system is bound to reduce the input the driver gets from the road.

He will be less aware of whether the surface is slippery or whether the car is understeering more than usual because the SHAWD system is correcting things all the time.

How Deterring Thieves Will Keep Motorbike Insurance Quotes Low

How Deterring Thieves Will Keep Motorbike Insurance Quotes Low

Motorbike insurance is an integral part of the pleasures of motorbike ownership. Not only are motorbikes easier to steal than cars but riders must also ensure their insurance covers them for personal injury and third party collisions. Despite this motorbike insurance quotes are remarkably cheaper than quotes for a car. Most probably because cars are generally more expensive; but even with cheap cars insurance quotes can be more than those of a motorbike.

According to a recent report on motorbike crime theft of motorcycles went up one hundred and thirty five percent in the five years between 2000 and 2005. This unsurprisingly has driven up insurance quotes for those who own motorbikes. The level of theft has reached worrying proportions; it is now believed that more motorbikes are stolen then bought new in any twenty four hour period.

The extent of the problem is a headache for insurance companies who are forced to drive up premiums. Criminal gangs are believed to steal an estimated three million pounds worth of bikes every month; a truly shocking statistic. With it only taken on average twenty seconds to steal a motorbike there is little wonder why the level of theft has become so high.

The report has also given some idea of the level of motorbike crime in the UK and the various hotspots; mainly urban areas. The regions with the highest levels of bike theft were Greater Manchester the West Midlands and West Yorkshire.

The reasons behind the thefts range from the splitting of bikes up for spare parts that will eventually make it onto the black market. Also bikes are believed to be stolen by ‘joyriders’ looking for a good time. Surprisingly however the majority of bikes are stolen from houses making insurance companies insist on garage storage.

One thing the insurance companies can do is insist motorbike owners install some form of tracking device. These devices have led to multiple recoveries of stolen bikes in the last few years. It is believed that one company’s tracking system led to two hundred and ninety two bikes being recovered in 2007; with an estimated worth of nearly three million pounds this is an impressive solution. Added to the bikes recovered the tracking devices enabled police to break up seventy six professional theft rings and recover an extra two million pounds worth of stolen motorcycles.

The nemeses of the insurance companies are the organised crime syndicates that have made a lucrative business by stealing motorbikes. As the popularity of motorbike riding is increasing the trade for black market bikes and spares is also on the rise. The ease of stealing a motorbike is astounding as often it only means lifting a bike into the back of van and driving off.

It is mainly high powered sports bikes that are stolen and subsequently have the highest insurance quotes. Of the bikes stolen the most popular makes are Suzuki Honda Yamaha Kawasaki and Harley Davidson. New bikes are targeted predominantly due to the need for spare parts on the black market and the opportunity to sell the bikes whole.

So how can you prevent your motorbike from being stolen and keep insurance quotes down? Ensure to park your bike in a garage with obstacles obstructing the bikes path when at home. When away from home find a well lit parking spot in full view of a security camera to improve the safety of your bike. Never on any occasion leave the keys in your bike even if you are only going to be five minutes. If selling your bike it is worth being wary of those taking test rides as they simply may never come back.

Following this advice may help to keep your motorbike insurance quotes at a reasonable level. There is no doubt that the theft of motorcycles is a lucrative business for the criminal fraternity. Deterring thieves should be a major concern and should ensure you have a bike to ride for years to come.
