Future Of Hybrid Vehicles

Most people tend to agree that the one area that is having the greatest impact on the environment and the pocket book is the reliance on fossil fuels. More people are now looking for ways to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels. Driving hybrid vehicles is one option that consumers have found to be a good choice to save money while using less fossil fuel. The purchase of hybrid vehicles has been steadily increasing with many experts expecting the trend to continue for many years.

A hybrid vehicle contains a smaller and more fuel-efficient gas engine combined with an electric motor that helps the engine when the car accelerates. The electric motor is power-driven by batteries that recharge automatically while the car is being driven. A hybrid engine can use the ICE as a power source and/or an onboard generator to charge and recharge the vehicle’s batteries. After years of fine tuning, hybrid vehicles offer drivers an affordable and practical solution to curbing our dependence on fossil fuels. These gas-electric hybrid vehicles are now available all across the United States.

There are a number of reasons why more consumers are purchasing hybrid cars. They are more fuel efficient which means consumers are paying less for gas and they produce less carbon emissions. The future of hybrid cars is looking bright with car manufacturers embracing this energy efficient method of transportation. For instance, 2010 scheduled hybrid releases include the Porsche-hybrid Cayenne SUV, Chevrolet Volt, Honda Fit, Honda CR-Z, and Mercury Milan. The 2011 scheduled hybrid releases include: Nissan Infiniti M35 and the Buick Regal.

Due to consumer demands for affordable and energy efficient automobiles, research and development of hybrid cars is moving forward at a very rapid rate. Future technologies will likely include: hydrogen-powered fuel cell, hydraulic fluid to store and provide energy to power the vehicle, plug-in hybrids, hydrogen hybrids, and solar powered cars. The electric car is another ‘green’ car growing in demand as these cars produce zero emissions. Electric cars use the energy stored in a battery to propel the car.

To find auto insurance rates online is a useful benefit of insuring drivers who own hybrid vehicles as these drivers tend to exhibit safer driving habits. Many companies are now actively promoting these vehicles by offering insurance discounts. Hybrids have a great future, and in the coming years, expect to see more innovative automotive ‘green’ advancements that will help make the environment much less toxic and reduce our dependency on fossil fuels.
